Part time Optical Assistant - Oldham

They are recruiting for a part-time optical assistant, and you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and assisting with the day-to-day operations of our optical practice. 

 Oldham is served by an extensive public transport network, including buses and the Metrolink tram system, providing easy access to Manchester and neighbouring areas.

The town is conveniently located near the M60 motorway, facilitating travel by car to other parts of Greater Manchester and beyond.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Greet and assist customers in selecting eyewear, and providing information on lenses, frames, and other optical products. Ensure a welcoming and professional atmosphere in the practice.

  •  Perform fittings and adjustments for eyewear, ensuring comfort and proper alignment.

  • Conduct basic pre-screening tests, such as measuring visual acuity, and taking patient history.

  •  Schedule appointments, handle phone inquiries, process payments, and maintain patient records accurately.

  •  Assist in managing stock levels, including ordering and replenishing frames and lenses as needed.

  •  Work closely with optometrists and other team members to provide an efficient and seamless patient experience.

  • Stay informed about the latest optical products, technologies, and trends to provide informed recommendations to customers.

  • Previous experience in an optical setting.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with customers and provide excellent service.

  •  Ability to pay close attention to detail when fitting eyewear and managing records.

  •  Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to customers.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and support colleagues.

  • Strong organisational skills to manage appointments, stock, and administrative tasks effectively.
